Planning Reform

Great news for the planning system!

Angela Raynor MP, speaking to the BBC, announced this week that more applications shall be determined by planning officers under delegated powers rather than going to planning committee.

I welcome this - qualified planning officers doing what they do best! 👏🏻

The devil will be in the detail of course, will it just be minor applications or major applications too?

Also, as the press release states where applications meet the local development plan.... at least 50 % of the planning applications I submit for my clients don't and in these instances I am arguing and presenting material considerations as to why planning permission should still be granted on the site.

When an application has to go to planning committee, even with a recommendation for approval from the planning officer, it does create an extra level of uncertainty and can be up to 6 weeks delay to a decision depending on the committee timetable.... so ultimately, I fully support this measure👍🏻 👍🏻 👍🏻

Thank you The Labour Party....
